I was apprehensive in joining Dance Advantage’s Top Dance Blog competition…
I love this little here blog, but I’m also acutely aware that it’s a website with somewhat of an identity crisis. Like the girl who created the site (that’s me!), Art Intercepts is still finding itself.
What started as a resource database on dance injuries created as part of my Master’s Thesis, became that plus a blog, plus the home of my creative projects and performances. Furthermore, in the past several months the blog has begun to lean more toward previews and reviews (terrifying).
That’s a lot of hats for one domain name.
Though I might be lacking confidence about what this is, I’m confident in my writing, my work ethic, my good intentions, and the amazing support system around me. I know I’ve got something good here, and when Art Intercepts figures out what it is really going to be, well, it’s gonna be amazing.
Win or lose, I am completely humbled by the show of support from the communities I teach for, write for, dance with, and hang out with. Some who have voted don’t understand a single thing about dance, and probably otherwise wouldn’t care less about this little blog. Others have excused the fact that I often end up prioritizing other writing commitments over this one.
… And maybe just a few have actually taken pause to reflect on the status of dance because of something I’ve said here.
Whoever you are, or whatever category you fall into…. thank you.
P.S. It’s still not too late to vote! There are still TWO MORE DAYS! Remember that thing I said about that it was cool either way, win or lose? Just kidding, I want to win. After voting for the best overall blog, scroll down and visit the category competition. I’m hoping to smash my competition in the Speaking Dance category.
And. Just kidding again. I’ll be ok either way.
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t vote…
